Watch out for "recovery" scams. People who DM you, or comment under posts like these, offering to get your account back for a fee are almost always scammers, and many victims get hit twice. The platforms' own recovery is free. Never give anyone your password, 2FA codes, or remote access to your phone.

Official recovery (free)

Steps that help

  1. Check your email first (inbox and spam) for "your email was changed" messages. Many have a "this wasn't me / secure my account" link that reverses the change.
  2. Secure your email and phone carrier account before anything else. Whoever controls your email can take everything else.
  3. Use only the official recovery links above, from the app or the site, never from a DM or a comment.
  4. Warn your contacts from another account. Hacked accounts are used to scam friends and family.
  5. Money taken? Call your bank or card company now, and report it to the FTC (US) or your country's fraud line.
  6. Business page? Some platforms have paid business support or verification with human help. Check the platform's own business help center.
